1 National Popcorn Day – January 19th
National Popcorn Day is observed on January 19th each year. During a cold January winter, grab the kids and some popcorn for a family movie night. 2 pi Day – March 14th
Pi day is observed on March 14th each year. Celebrate everything numbers and mathematics on pi day — or heck, just eat some real pie! pi the ratio of circumference to diameter of a circle. A simple explanation of pi for kids is that the length around a circle is always about 3 times bigger than the length across a circle — no matter how big the circle is!!! Bonus for super-nerds: Albert Einstein's Birthday is also on March 14th.And for those less STEM inclined, World Poetry Day is also celebrated on March 21st each year.
3 Take Your Daughter to Work Day – April
Take Our Sons and Daughters to Work Day is celebrated on the 4th Thursday in April each year — on Thursday, April 25, 2019 and Thursday, April 23, 2020. What originally began has Take Your Daughter to Work Day in 1992, was expanded in 2003 to include Sons as well. All children should be encouraged to explore a diversity of careers. A good way to start their career search is to help them better understand what mom and dad do each day!
4 Star Wars Day – May 4th
Star Wars Day is celebrated on May 4th each year. May the fourth be with you! Grab the Lego playsets, the action figures, the light sabers, the dress-up costumes, and re-watch a favorite Star Wars movie with your family!!
5 National Doughnut Day – June
National Doughnut Day is celebrated on the first Friday in June each year — on Friday, June 1, 2018 and Friday, June 7, 2019. And while you wait in line for your free doughnut giveaway from Krispy Kreme, you can debate whether it's Doughnut Day, or National Donut Day! Hint: Doughnut is the correct, old-school spelling, but donut is gaining popularity in the online world. You can blame Dunkin' Donuts for the spelling snafu!!

6 National Ice Cream Day – July
National Ice Cream Day is celebrated on the third Sunday of July each year — on Sunday, July 22, 2018 and Sunday, July 21, 2019. National Cousin's Day is also on July 24th every year. So grab the extended family of kids, and enjoy some ice cream at a family get-together! And just in case you missed your ice cream fix in the winter months, Ice Cream for Breakfast Day is on the first Saturday of February.
7 Talk Like a Pirate Day – September 19th
Talk Like a Pirate Day is celebrated on September 19th each year. For those less 'pillaging' and more for promoting harmony, United Nations World Peace Day (International World Peace Day)is celebrated on September 21st each year.
8 National Taco Day – October 4th
National Taco Day is celebrated on October 4th each year. Who doesn't love tacos, especially kids? So, set-up a make-your-own taco bar at home, or take the kids out to their favorite Mexican restaurant, or visit your local Taco Truck. And don't forget to read, Dragons Love Tacos. It's a perfect Taco Day bedtime story for little ones. But remember, no spicy salsa!!
9 World Kindness Day – November 13th
World Kindness Day is celebrated on November 13th each year. Families should celebrate kindness EVERY day. The #1 rule every parent can teach their children: Be kind. Kindness solves almost every problem in the world.
10 National Cookie Day – December 4th
National Cookie Day is celebrated on December 4th each year. Before you bring out the Christmas cookies, take a moment to pause and appreciate an American Classic — the Chocolate Chip Cookie!! Glass of milk, required. And last, but not least, no National Day calendar would be complete withNational Bacon Day on December 30th. National Days are unofficial days declared by individual organizations. Unlike Federal holidays, there is no governmental oversight for establishing a National Day, although sometimes Congress does declare a commemorative day. Any organization can declare a National Day, particularly businesses who want to promote anything from doughnuts to pizza. There are lists, and online registries, and "official" designations by non-profit organizations. However, ultimately becoming a National Day is simply a matter of promoting a cause, or product, or idea. To add to the confusion, many countries outside the United States celebrate different National Days. Sweden celebrates Waffle Day on March 25th, while Waffle Day is August 24th in the United States — the date Cornelius Swarthout patented the first U.S. waffle iron. Now Waffle House is promoting the action!! The popularity of National Days is driven by societal trend: for example, the recent emphasis on STEM education has helped popularize pi Day among school children across the country. Doughnut Day and Taco Day have become more popular with the event of free giveaways by companies such as Krispy Kreme and Taco Bell. If there is something your family likes to celebrate, there is sure to be a day for it — and we suggest declaring your own day as a family tradition — like Watch Cartoons in Bed Day, or Walk Backwards Day!!!
